Splitting a PDF is useful when you only want to send a chapter, an annex or a form. On ToolZen you enter ranges in the same format as the pages field: for example 1-3,5,8-10. Each range produces a document. A range outside the file’s page count is rejected; we do not return a half-finished PDF.
A single PDF of up to 25 MB is accepted on the guest plan. If you ask for one range, you download that PDF. If there are several ranges, the download is a zip with each part.
The range parser is the same one extract and delete pages use: numbers from 1, no overlaps, no zeros or negatives, with a range cap. An encrypted, empty or non-PDF file is rejected or fails.
Input originals are deleted when processing finishes; the result follows the guest TTL (half an hour). There is no account and no permanent public link. There is no “automatic page-by-page extraction” without ranges: you have to type them. This tool also has no OCR and no margin crop.
It is not the same as extract pages: extract joins what you marked into one PDF. It is not delete pages: delete leaves you the complement. If you want a loose chapter and nothing else, split or extract depending on whether you prefer one file or several. Common mistakes: asking for page 0, a reversed range, more ranges than allowed, or a ZIP disguised as a PDF. In those cases the job does not produce a fake PDF. Success is a valid PDF or ZIP, not a visual edit of the document.
