Remove image metadata
Rewrite the image to remove EXIF, GPS and comments when the format allows it. It is not a forensic wipe of every container and not of invisible watermarks.

How it works

- Process Submit the job and wait for processing to finish.
- Download The result keeps the format. Check whether your viewer still shows a profile.
Stripping metadata is so you do not send GPS coordinates or a camera model along with the photo. ToolZen rewrites JPEG, PNG or WEBP to remove EXIF, GPS and comments when the format allows it. It is not a forensic wipe: we do not promise every manufacturer XMP, nor invisible watermarks, nor that a viewer will stop seeing a colour profile if the codec needs it to paint.
A JPEG may be recoded when rewritten; we do not advertise “the same pixels bit for bit”. The megapixel cap and the size maximum (25 MB) are those of the other image tools. Only uploaded files. The original is deleted when it finishes; the result lasts for guest retention.
Compress image also strips, but additionally lowers quality on JPEG/WEBP. Here the stated goal is metadata, not a weight percentage. If the photo is still too heavy, compress or resize in a second step. Convert to WebP changes the format; strip metadata keeps it.
Do not use this page as a legal anonymity guarantee: a screenshot crop can still show a place, and the filename is not rewritten beyond the download rules. It also does not erase text drawn on the image. A GIF, TIFF or a truncated JPEG is rejected or fails.
Use cases: send a photographed receipt without GPS, publish a product without camera data, or attach a portrait to a form. Related: compress, resize, crop and convert to WebP.
Frequently asked questions
Does GPS go away?
On a typical JPEG with EXIF, yes, with `-strip`. We do not guarantee every manufacturer quirk or leftover XMP metadata.
Does visual quality stay the same?
The goal is to strip metadata, not to compress. Even so, rewriting a JPEG can change the bytes a little.
Is this the same as compress image?
Compress also strips and additionally lowers quality on JPEG/WEBP. This tool does not advertise a weight percentage: only metadata.
Is there a megapixel ceiling?
Yes. A huge image is rejected the same way as in resize or crop.
