Crop an image online

Crop a rectangle in pixels: origin (x, y) from the top-left corner, plus width and height. If the box sticks out of the image, it is rejected. There are no visual handles in this version.

Step by step

How it works

  1. Select the image A JPEG, PNG or WEBP. Measure the size first if you do not know it.
  2. Enter the rectangle x, y, width and height in whole pixels. It must stay inside the image.
  3. Download the crop The result keeps the format. The input is deleted when it finishes.

Cropping an image cuts a rectangle in pixels. The origin (x, y) is top-left, not like a PDF MediaBox. Width and height must be at least one pixel. If x+width or y+height sticks out of the photo, the job is rejected with an options error: we do not silently crop “up to the edge”.

The four numbers are validated as integers. We do not accept advanced syntax, percentages or paths. The input photo also passes the megapixel cap and the maximum side. A PDF, a GIF or a URL does not get in. Only files uploaded from your device.

JPEG, PNG, WEBP. 25 MB. The original is deleted when it finishes; the crop lasts for guest retention. The format is kept. There is no handle editor and no server-side preview. If you do not know the size, measure it in your viewer first: ToolZen does not guess the framing.

If what you want is to fit a box while keeping the whole subject, resize: that tool does not crop. If you want less weight, compress afterwards. If you want less EXIF, strip metadata. Cropping a PDF is another tool: millimetre margins on the MediaBox, not pixels of a photo.

Common mistakes: negative x or y, a 0×0 rectangle, coordinates that stick out, or a corrupt JPEG. In those cases no “approximate” crop is launched. Success is a valid image of the requested rectangle, not a smart subject crop.

Quick answers

Frequently asked questions

What if the crop sticks out?

An options error. We do not silently crop “whatever fits”.

Can I use advanced crop syntax?

No. Only four validated integers. There is no free `-crop`, no `!` and no percentages.

Is the origin the same as PDF?

No. On images the origin is top-left, as in most photo editors.

Is there a pixel maximum on the photo?

Yes, the same megapixel cap as the other image tools: it applies to the input photo, not only the crop.
