Convert the PDF step by step

  1. Upload the PDFOpen the PDF to Word tool and select the document.
  2. Process the fileSubmit the job; it is converted on the server to .docx.
  3. Download and reviewOpen the Word file and check tables, columns and images before you treat it as final.

Is your PDF text, or a scan?

That is the key difference. If you can select the text with the mouse inside the PDF, conversion to Word will be reasonably good. If the PDF is a photo or a scan of paper, there is no text to copy: it is an image. ToolZen does not invent an OCR step inside PDF to Word; those are two published tools.

What to check in the result

  • Tables and columns: they are what shift the most.
  • Page breaks and headers: they can move.
  • Images: check they are still where they should be.

Quick answers

Frequently asked questions

Does the Word file look identical to the PDF?

Not always. Native text usually comes through, but tables, columns and complex layouts can shift. Treat it as an editable base, not an exact replica.

Does it work with a scanned PDF?

Poorly: a scan is an image and this conversion does not run OCR. If you need the text of a scan, run it through the image-to-text tool first.

What Word format do I get?

A .docx file, which Word, Google Docs and LibreOffice open.

Why is it slower than other tools?

Document conversion uses an office engine that processes one job at a time so it does not exhaust memory. That can take a little longer.
